Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This page explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, how I use it, and how I keep it safe. I’ll keep this as plain and simple as possible — no legal jargon, no confusing fine print.

Who I am

My name is Serge M Botans and I run a private computer tutoring business operating under the name Geelong Computer Lessons (GCL), based in Newcomb, Victoria, Australia. You can contact me using my contact form.

What information I collect

When you contact me through this website, by phone or by email, I may collect the following:

  • Your name, phone number and email address — so I can get back to you and arrange a lesson.
  • Your suburb or address — so I know where to travel to for your lesson.
  • Information about what you’d like help with — so I can prepare for your lesson and make it as useful as possible.
  • Payment details — I do not store credit card details. Payment is by cash or bank transfer only.

I do not collect sensitive personal information such as your date of birth, financial records, health information or government identifiers unless you choose to share something voluntarily during a lesson or conversation, in which case it stays strictly between us. And I keep no hard copy of such information, unless you agree to it so I can help with specific problems. And, once the problem has been dealt with, I will destroy that hard copy.

How I use your information

I use your information only to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and arrange lessons.
  • Confirm bookings, times and locations.
  • Follow up after a lesson if you’ve asked me to.

I do not use your information for marketing purposes, I do not sell your information to anyone, and I do not share it with any third party except where required by law.

How I store your information

Your contact details are stored securely. I use standard tools such as email and a contact management app to keep track of bookings and enquiries. I do not store your details on paper forms that are left unsecured, and I do not share my devices with other people.

Cookies and website tracking

This website may use cookies — small files stored on your browser — to help the site function properly and to understand how visitors use the site. If you use a contact form, your browser may store basic session information temporarily.

If this website uses Google Analytics or a similar tool, it may collect anonymous data about how visitors navigate the site, such as which pages are visited and how long visitors spend on them. This data does not identify you personally.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so may affect how some parts of the website function.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information I hold about you. Ask me to correct any information that is inaccurate. Ask me to delete your information at any time. Withdraw any consent you have given at any time.
  • To exercise any of these rights, simply contact me by email or phone. I will respond within a reasonable timeframe, usually within five business days.

Third party links

This website may contain links to other websites — for example Google Maps or social media profiles. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. Please check their own privacy policies if you have concerns.

Changes to this policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time.
